TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (WTXL) - Mother's Day is quickly approaching and we have a last minute gift for Mom that you and your kids can make; the best part about it is most of the items you probably already have at home.

Mother's Day "flowers" are made out of coffee filters, pipe cleaners and food coloring. Kids can use the food coloring to dye the the filters and after they add some color, use a squirt bottle to allow the colors to spread. You should use at least 5 filters for every flower you'd like to make.

Once the filters dry, stack them on top of each other. Fold them like a taco and squish them together so you create a point that you can wrap the pipe cleaner around.

After you wrap the pipe cleaner around the end, fluff the "petals" out to bring the flower to full form.

You can make multiple "flowers" to form a bouquet to give to Mom or gather them together and place them in a vase. These flowers are an opportunity for you and your children to make something for Mom that she will love; all while making memories of your own.

If you'd like more detailed directions on how to make the "flowers" watch the video:
