One of the most beloved internationally beloved Musicals of all time opens Thursday night at the Manatee Performing Art Center, and the Manatee Players become the first local community Theatre to gain the right to present the play.

More than 200 people turned out at the audition, for the 48 parts available.

Producing Artistic Director Rick Kerby promises some surprises. Maybe even some of the flyers from the recent week long Flying Camp held by the Manatee Players.

Kerby says the new theatre offers plenty of room to stage this magnificent play, and the cast is spectacular. It will run thru Aug. 28
