SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - We are Giving Hunger the Blues!
What could be better than listening to your favorite musicians entertain live and knowing that just being by being there, you are helping to feed hungry people in our community.
We are so rich in talented musicians here on the Suncoast.
But along with our wealth and affluence, 33% of our residents can't afford basic needs.
So the musicians are stepping in to help.
Undine Shorey will entertain at Giving Hunger the Blues.
She is called "The Groove Violinist" . She's been playing the violin for nearly 20 years. She has worked tirelessly in developing her own unique sound. Whether it's gospel, rock, jazz or even hip hop, the sounds from her bow resonates and speaks to people of all ages, backgrounds, and experiences. She has played for weddings, hotels, restaurants, concerts and church events. And she is no longer known as just a violinist, Shorey also plays guitar and sings and plans to include these acoustic jazz sets in her performances from now on."
Giving Hunger the Blues has been voted Sarasota's favorite outdoor festival. It features great music from national, regional and local performers, tasty food from the area's best restaurants and a diverse group of vendors and local organizations. It is one of the most anticipated events on Sarasota's annual calendar!
Changes this year include 2 days of music instead of one. The Festival will be held on Friday and Saturday, October 12th and 13th, outside at the Van Wezel.
All proceeds go to the Mayor's Feed the Hunger Campaign.
