SARASOTA, FL (WWSB) - A second parole violation has landed Donna Betts, the wife of Allman Brothers Band founding member Dickey Betts, back in jail.
According to court documents, the 63-year-old Betts was arrested Thursday, after a report stated that she had consumed alcohol, which is in direct violation of her probation order.
Betts is on probation as part of a sentencing agreement for an aggravated assault with a deadly weapon charge from March 2017 where she threatened to shoot more than a dozen high school students rowing near her backyard in Osprey.
The violation report states that Betts tested positive for the presence of alcohol during a court-ordered breathalyzer test on May 21 yielding a blood alcohol content of .030.
On May 23 Betts was called into the probation office to provide a further drug screening and stated that there was "no way her test could have been positive," according to documents provided to the court.
Betts continued her statement, saying she did cook chicken marsala as she has done before with no issues.
The parole officer assigned to Betts has recommended a 15-day stay at the Sarasota County jail and an additional six months of probation for the violation.
According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, Betts remains in custody without bond. A hearing has been scheduled for Jun. 22.
