Cheese and Spinach Curry

Saag Paneer (Cheese and Spinach Curry)


• 1 thumb ginger, minced

• 4 garlic cloves, minced

• 1 green chili, minced

• ghee

• 6 oz paneer, cubed 1 inch

• ¼ teaspoon garam masala

• ¼ teaspoon cayenne pepper

• 1 ½ cups spinach, finely chopped cooked spinach

• 3 tablespoons heavy cream

• 2 tbl Greek yoghurt


1. In large pan heat oil over medium heat

2. Carefully place pieces of paneer in pan and turn sautéing until golden brown on both sides

3. Once fried, remove paneer and season with salt, garam masala and cayenne pepper

4. In same pan with fresh ghee, add ginger chili and garlic

5. Sauté for 30 seconds

6. Add spinach and stir for 1 minute

7. Add the yoghurt and cream and cover simmering on low for 10 mins

8. Add the paneer bring back to a simmer then cover and cook on low heat for a further 5 minutes.

9. Season with salt pepper and a touch of granulated sugar if needed

10. Garnish with fresh cilantro leaves and serve with Steamed basmati rice and a touch of mango chutney if desired
