Comings and Goings of Suncoast Restaurants

Tin Fish a small restaurant group with locations in California, Indiana and Florida has opened in the Sarasota Commons. The corner location next to LA Fitness if offering really good fish, especially their fish taco selections and a darn good bloody Mary. While I wish they added banquettes to the back wall to soften the space and make it less like a former pool hall, bottom line is that the food is really good.

The Tin Fish, 935 N. Beneva rd.,

In the same plaza just a few doors down a new Chicago pizza restaurant opened. I will venturing over for a pie and a bowl of pasta so stay tuned.

Look for a new Mexican restaurant to take the place of Oceans Blue on Hillview. IF it is any good, that could be a fine spot for the neighborhoods that already offers Indian, Middle Eastern, Sushi, iconic brewed coffee and a few good burger bars.

Geckos is at it again. Now open just before Sam’s Club off Fruitville, the restaurant spot had been a loser for the past few places. With Geckos reputation though, this spot with a mini lake to enhance the view just may make it.

Confirmed rumors- Yes Andreas is working with the owner of the former Plaza restaurant on Longboat Key to reopen the renovated giant space. Look for Andrea’s talents to bring a new type of menu including pizzas and private functions, a chefs table in the kitchen and cooking classes.
