SARASOTA, Fla. -- A Suncoast man says a package of shrimp he recently purchased at the Sarasota Costco was labelled as a product of the U.S.A., but found out otherwise once he opened it.

Rich Redenour contacted ABC 7 this week, saying that he purchased a 4-pound bag of frozen shrimp this weekend labeled as "Wild Gulf Prawns -- Product of U.S.A."

However, the inside packaging had the shrimp marked as "Product of Vietnam; farm raised".

Rich returned to Costco and was told by a manager that they're not sure how the mistake happened.  He received a refund on the shrimp.

The mislabeling no doubt was a result of the bad publicity and controversy arising about how these farm raised prawns promote slavery.

The long and the short is the boats that catch the 'trash' fish to feed to the pond raised prawns are manned by fishing ships that use slave labor to catch the fish to feed to the prawns.

    Just google it....
