**UPDATE**

The second victim had been identified as 55-year-old Maurico Maldonado Conde, the Manatee County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.  Both victims were roommates in the residence.
BRADENTON - The Manatee County Sheriff's Office is investigating what appears to be a double homicide. Investigators say one of the victim's employers discovered the bodies Tuesday morning inside a home on 61st Avenue Terrace East.

The home is adjacent to Daughtry Elementary and Pride Park.

Sheriff's detectives spent the day processing the scene and interviewing neighbors, after receiving a call from one of the victim's employers who went to check on his employee. “He came here looking for one of his employees who had not shown up for work in the last couple of days. And when he got here, he discovered two bodies inside,” says sheriff’s office spokesperson Dave Bristow.

Investigators have identified one of the victims as 43-year-old Adrian Velasquez Baca, who lived in the home. The other victim, a 55-year-old Hispanic male, has been identified, but the name has not been released, pending notification of next of kin.

Luis Diaz, a former roommate of one of the men, said through a translator that he can't imagine why someone would do this to his friend. “We hope that they find whoever did this, because we want to find out what happened and because we live nearby and we're worried about if the person is out there.”

Other neighbors ABC 7 talked to say they didn't know the victims very well. According to Bristow, one of the neighbors says they heard gun shots Monday night. “But they didn't call the sheriff's office, so we did not respond in the area last night.”

Bristow says that unfortunately, that’s not all that uncommon in the neighborhood. “Over the years we've had some problems in this area, so yes, this is one of the higher areas of crime in Manatee County.”

An autopsy will be performed on Wednesday to determine the cause of death. Anyone with information on this case is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 866-634-TIPS.
