SARASOTA - A driver was sitting in the Sarasota County Jail Monday morning after causing a crash involving a deputy.
It happened just before 1am Monday on South Tamiami Trail in Sarasota, just south of Bee Ridge Road.
According to authorities, the deputy was responding to a call when a vehicle turned in front of him causing a crash.
The driver, 27-year-old Bratton Kirkwood Roper, fled the scene, but was located nearby
The deputy received minor injuries
Roper was arrested for leaving the scene and DUI.
