Josh Taylor joined ABC 7 in the spring of 2002 as a photojournalist. Always on the street covering news stories, it was a natural move for Josh to take on his current position as a News Reporter. Josh has worked as a general assignment reporter at WRUF am850 in Gainesville where he focused on sports coverage, and as the beat reporter at WUFT covering Gator football and basketball.
Josh graduated from the University of Florida with a B.A. degree in Communications News Broadcasting. Josh was born and raised right here in Sarasota. His grandfather helped to build the original Sunshine Skyway Bridge and his father was a net fisherman in Nokomis. Even his mom is a lifelong resident, having graduated from Manatee High. Josh went to school at Nokomis Elementary, Epiphany Cathedral and graduated from Cardinal Mooney High School, where he was the captain of the football team.
Josh's deep roots in this community help him report on the issues facing the area every day. "This community has changed so much over the years, and I hope my perspective as a native Sarasotan will bring a greater depth of understanding to the stories I cover," says Josh.
The term ABC family really does apply for Josh. He married ABC 7 video editor Kristin Taylor on March 10th 2007, and together they added a beautiful baby girl to the family in 2009. Josh and Kristin met each other while working the night shift for the eleven o'clock news. Kristin was an editor for the noon and 5 o'clock shows.
In Josh's spare time he loves fishing the bays where he spent countless hours with his dad as a child. He's also a huge Bucs and Rays fan.
