Lauren Dorsett

An award winning journalist, Lauren Dorsett comes to the Suncoast from WTXL in Tallahassee where she worked as the 5pm Anchor and Health Reporter. Being in the state capital, Lauren also conducted a weekly political segment.

Before WTXL, Lauren was a reporter for KCFW in Montana. Her experience there landed her an anchor position for "Montana Today" at KECI in Missoula. After only a year she was runner-up for state's E.B. Craney Award "Broadcaster of the year". Lauren also worked in Washington, D.C. where she was able to interview some of the country's movers and shakers, including former first lady Hillary Clinton. Prior to that, Lauren worked at KTLA in Los Angeles.

Lauren grew up in Simi Valley, CA, a suburb of Los Angeles. She attended Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles where she graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor's degree in Television Production, with an emphasis in Journalism, and a minor in American history.

Lauren is an avid scuba diver and enjoys running, fishing, cooking, and reading in her free time. Lauren loves the Suncoast waters!

You can watch Lauren Dorsett co-anchoring weeknights on ABC 7 News at 5 and 6 along side Scott Dennis, and anchoring ABC 7 News at 11.

In October, Lauren announced that she will be leaving ABC 7 and returning to California to be closer to her fiance.  Her last day on ABC 7 will be November 27th.  See Lauren's page celebrating her time and memorable moments on the Suncoast.
