Adam Cellini began working at ABC 7 in April 2015 and is now the weekend anchor and weekday reporter. His last name is often mispronounced as See-Leeny. but its accurate pronunciation is the Italian version - Chell–Leeny.
His first assignment was seven days after getting his new job. Cellini turned in his package on the reopening of a Cuban restaurant in Bradenton and hasn’t looked back since then.
Cellini , 24, graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Dayton in 2013, majoring in communications. He was a student-athlete who played baseball for the school’s nationally ranked program. As a catcher, he experienced the kind of pressure that would help prepare him for a high pressured job.
He interned with the university’s sports information department, where he broadcasted play-by-play action of sporting events. He also contributed to the Daytona Beach News Journal’s 2013 coverage of the Daytona 500.
Cellini currently lives in Bradenton and is originally from Marietta, Georgia. He likes to cook and especially enjoys creating his mother’s original recipes, which come from his parents’ Italian heritage. Cellini also inherited his family’s love for Cleveland, Ohio, sports teams, the source of much pain and frustration, he jokes.
If you see Adam out on the beat, he invites you to say hi and introduce yourself. If you see him off hours, he welcomes an invitation to join in any pick-up games you might be playing that day.
