WTXL ABC 27 HD has an immediate opening for a part-time news editor.
Duties of this position will include using our non-linear editing system to complete daily editing of video from multiple platforms (cameras, phones, tablets, etc.) for all newscasts and online products, as well as operation of the ingest station for tuning in live shots, while ensuring all items make allocated transmission deadlines. This position may also be responsible for archiving newscast footage, creating multimedia files for email, assisting in studio shots, live remotes and station events (including set-up and tear-down), acting as a videographer when needed, and online web posting as needed. Other duties may be assigned as the needs of the station dictate.
The successful candidate will be familiar with videocamera operation and non-linear editing software and hardware, have the ability to learn the market to determine areas best available for live shots, be able to learn remote editing as well as SAT truck operation and safety, be able to lift and carry 30+ pounds, and be willing to work long hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed.
A high school diploma, previous non-linear editing experience in college or in a television station, and a valid driver’s license are required. The ideal candidate will possess some knowledge of online/digital video use and formats, maintain a professional attitude and attire to represent the station in a proper manner, and have a visceral distaste for office politics and gossip, and be able to work well with other newsroom staff under periods of stress and impending deadlines.
