SARASOTA, FL - U.S. Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-FL, opposes launching a military strike against Syria.

“The case has not been made for why U.S. involvement is vital to our national security,” Buchanan said in a statement.

This as the Obama administration holds another round of closed-door meeting today as they try and build support for a military strike.

The Senate Foreign Relations committee has voted in favor of a resolution authorizing a limited military action.

Congress will debate the issue and vote when they return to Capitol Hill next week.

Meanwhile, a recent  ABC News/ Washington Post poll shows that 6 out of 10 Americans oppose a unilateral U.S. missile strike.

ABC 7 Reporter John McQuistion will speak to Rep. Buchanan, and Suncoast residents about this national debate.
