Anu Tali conducted her first rehearsal for her debut concert at the Van Wezel Performing Arts Center this weekend.

Tali becomes only the 5th music director in the Sarasota  Orchestra's 65 year history.

The beautiful blond is from Estonia. She has a twin sister. And the two founded the Nordic Symphony Orchestra. She worked with the Sarasota Orchestra as guest conductor in 2011 and 2013. And she says she developed a bond with the musicians and staff, and is delighted to take the job in Sarasota. She says she feels together they can accomplish great things.

She will be away much of the next year, conducting orchestras all across Europe due to previous commitments. But she says this will be a good thing for the Sarasota Orchestra. She'll bring back new energy and ideas and the Orchestra will get to work with other conductors.

You can see her historic debut at the Van Wezel on Friday and Sat. The Sunday afternoon show is already a sell out.
