You can pick your pumpkin and start your Halloween fun, at the 29th Annual Fruitville Grove Pumpkin Festival. It's Thursdays thru Sundays thru October 29th.
And soon mighty hooves will pound down Main Street.
Friday night at 5 o'clock, here in downtown Sarasota at the corner of Lemon Ave.,right in front of Mattisons Restaurant, the Clydesdales will be here.
Ron Soto, President of the Downtown Merchants Association says, "They are going to go and do a little parade main street and they are going to deliver beer the old fashioned way, to the restaurants along Main Street."
The Cyldesdales don't visit Sarasota often, so this is a great opportunity to check them out up close and personal.
And join the fun at the 11th Annual Hungarian Festival
Erika Klatyik, President of the Global Friendship Foundation says, "We will have 8 different bands coming from Hungary, pop, rock and roll, and we will have a Hungarian blues band from Atlanta coming this year. "
There'll be athletic competitions, and authentic Hungarian food, like stuffed cabbage, goulash, and Hungarian sausage.
The Hungarian Festival will be at the Sarasota County Fairgrounds Saturday and Sunday. If you've been longing to travel, you can do it right here, without ever leaving town.
And the West Coast Black Theatre Troupe opens their season with the Tony Award winning musical "In the Heights".
Director/Choreographer Jim Weaver says, "It's a celebration of culture, of family heritage, discovering of one self and it takes place in Washington Heights in Manhattan."
There's great singing and dancing, a lot of rap, romantic ballads, and up-tempo island music.
And the Selby Gardens Orchid Show just opened.
It is at Selby Gardens now thru November 26th. Come take a look and you'll know why they are calling the show " Earth, air, fire and water."
