VENICE BEACH, FL (WWSB)- New information on the red tide outbreak that's been affecting some area beaches.
Friday, ABC7 went to Venice Beach to see it first hand.
The beach was nearly empty and many beach goers who went out to the sand turned around quickly.
One family said their respiratory problems started before they even got out of their car.
Some say they left to visit other beaches.
"There's an enormous amount of dead fish and the smell is just overwhelming," Said Florida resident, Kathy Riznow.
One Mote Marine volunteer who was collecting samples said he hasn't seen red tide at Venice Beach this bad in a long time.
