The Sarasota Opera opens it's 55th Season with the Strauss Opera, "Die Fledemaus".  Although originally written in German, the opera will be performed completely in English.

At last night's dress rehearsal, more than 200 Manatee County middle school students and student teachers from USF - Sarasota Manatee gave the production a "thumbs up".

Sean Anderson plays the male lead for the 5th time in this Opera. He had the same role in Sarasota in 2006.

The female lead, Danielle Walker, was thrilled to get a fantastic reception from the students in the audience. She says she saw her first opera as a teenager, and liked it so much, she went on to make it her career.

"Die Fledemaus" is a comedy, with fabulous costumes, wonderful music, some of which may be familiar to you, and a happy ending, so you'll leave the Opera House smiling.
