Our children are our most valued asset for the future. It is great that the majority of school districts, sheriffs offices and police departments are adding more armed security and law enforcement officers. I give Manatee County Schools kudos for taking a step in the right direction. I find it very odd that one school district would be adding school safe officers and the Sarasota County Sheriff has reduced his youth services unit from 35 to 8 total officers. It can't be a matter of budget as his budget has not been reduced. He had a contract with the school system also. If our children are our greatest resource, then why would Sheriff Knight make a cognitive choice not to protect them?
