The Sarasota Garden Club celebrated its  history with a luncheon and fashion show at Michaels on East. ABC 7's Linda Carson was the guest speaker.

Mable Ringling was the first President of the Club. Marie Selby was a member. It was very high society and exclusive. There were only 12 members and you could only join by invitation.

It's changed a lot over the years. Now membership is open to the public. The club works extensively to beautify gardens and sites at businesses around town. They have their own club house, with 14 gardens, and it has an extensive library on horticulture.

More on this Suncoast treasure on ABC 7 at 6 pm and on the Sunrise News.
