SARASOTA, FL (WWSB)- A 40-acre brush fire in Sarasota County is finally under control now. The fire started at a property near Hawkins road and was put out within the hour. Then a couple of hours later, it started up again.
We spoke to the homeowner, and she said it started when a bee keeper was smoking the bees on her property; a spark started, and it escalated from there.
Fire season is quickly approaching because of the drier spring weather, which is why the fire department is warning people to be aware of their surroundings, especially when camping.
