Some songs are a flash in a pan. They come, they entertain us, and they are gone forever. But Gilbert & Sullivan songs last forever.

The two men joined forces in the late 1800s to create comic operas, and their works influenced musical theatre through the 20th century.

Now Florida Studio Theatre is giving their beloved songs a contemporary twist in a cabaret production called "Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged."

Matt Kahler, Music Director and cast member of "Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged" says they are going all out to make this music that was written between 1871 and 1896 new and exciting and meaningful for today's audience.

He says, "Gilbert & Sullivan Unplugged" is a quirky, fun cabaret at FST, and the very talented cast brings the music into the 21st century by stripping the songs down to their essence and giving them a contemporary twist.

He says this music has has had an impact on our world. Phrases from these songs are still today a part of our popular culture.
