SARASOTA, Fla. -- Interpretation of the solstice varies among cultures, but most recognize it in some way with holidays, festivals, and rituals via a variety of themes.
The Suncoast is no different.
So if you're not tuckered out from already "worshiping" the sun at one of our fabulous beaches, there are some fun events around town to partake in Saturday evening.
Sarasota's Om Shoppe is organizing the Summer Solstice Gathering at Siesta Beach. They'll be at the Red Life Guard Station on Siesta Beach 7:30 P.M. until sunset with drums, flutes, rattles and more.
WSLR is having their own solstice celebration, the Solar Solstice Reggae Celebration, to the tunes of reggae music in downtown Sarasota's Rosemary district right outside their studio. Local bands Treedom and Triple El (formerly known as the Tuff Sons) will be performing. Tickets are required for this event and they are $5 adv/$7 door.
