BRADENTON, FL (WWSB) - The Manatee County Department of Health and the Manatee County School Board is reminding residents who attended or worked at Bayshore high to submit their patient information forms for the Bayshore High School health study.
For the last four months, the Florida Department of Health in Manatee County (DOH) has been collecting patient information forms for a health study after concerns of a "cancer cluster" arose from Bayshore High alumni.
Residents are being reminded that all current and former students, faculty and staff of the school have until 5 p.m. Friday, Mar. 30 to complete the form and have their information included in the study.
The school board and DOH have coordinated outreach efforts since Dec. 1, 2017, in an effort to contact as many former students, staff and faculty as possible.
If you or a member of your family attended Bayshore high school between 1962 through today, and have been diagnosed with cancer of any kind, you are ask to participate in the study by completing a Patient Listing Form. Once complete the form can be mailed to or dropped off at the Division of Disease Control and Health Protection Florida Department of Health in Manatee County 410 6th Ave E Bradenton, FL 34208.
Once the forms have been collected, the data will be reviewed and statistical analysis conducted by cancer registry staff, epidemiologists and statisticians.
DOH estimates that a final report will be returned six months after the conclusion of data collection.
