SARASOTA, Fla. - Kay Rosaire founded the Big Cat Habitat and Gulf Coast Sanctuary to save exotic animals who would otherwise be put to death.
Kay's father, Derrick, 7th generation circus, came to this country when he was invited to appear on the Ed Sullivan Show. He was later invited to perform at the White House. He trained all the movie animals, like Clarence the Cross eyed Lion.
All her siblings train different animals. They all live on a 30 acre complex east of I-75 and they offer sanctuary to homeless exotic animals. They support the animals through donations and by giving shows.
The Rosaire Family's Animal Extravaganza is their major fundraiser. It starts in mid-January and runs Saturdays and Sundays through February.
