SARASOTA, Fla. - Ida Zito, the new President of the Board of Trustees of the Designing Women Consignment Boutique, has big plans for the future.
Designing Women has already given more than $1.5 million to more than 70 local arts and human services boutiques.
Ida was born in a Displaced Persons Camp in Austria following World War II. Both her parents are holocaust survivors. When she was 4 her family immigrated to the lower East side of New York. She had a stuttering problem, which she was able to over come. She met her husband in high school and they will soon celebrate their 50th Anniversary. She is a social and fashion leader in Sarasota, and started volunteering at Designing Women some 8 years ago when her twin sister died. She says dedicating herself to the purpose of Designing Women helped her get thru a very hard time. Her advice, persevere. Never give up.
