We honor Graci McGillicuddy as an Amazing Suncoast Woman. Graci has dedicated her life to fighting child abuse. Graci met her husband, Dennis, when the two were juniors at the University of Florida. They just celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary. They have two children, son Dennis and daughter Alyson, and 6 beautiful grandchildren.

Graci gave up her teaching career to be a stay at home mom when her children were small, but when she read an article about a little girl, Shannon Nicole, who was killed by child abuse in 1986, she was inspired, and began her mission to end child abuse.

She went to work with the Child Protection Center and she has been working with them ever since. She is chair of the Board of Directors and headed up the nearly 6 million dollar campaign to build the new state of the art Child Advocacy Center. It is dedicated to Shannon Nicole, the little girl whose death inspired Graci to her life's mission.

Graci is also Co-Chair and a founder of "Embracing Our Differences", and was appointed to the Governor's Child Abuse Prevention Council and served as Chair of the Florida Arts Council.

And just wait until you see the battle she's taking on next. Stay tuned.
