SARASOTA, Fla. - Carl Stephens, our Amazing Suncoast Woman this week, will receive the "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Sarasota Branch of the NAACP at their Freedom Awards Banquet Thursday night at the Hyatt.

Carl retired in 1992 after 39 years as a teacher -- 37 of those years in Sarasota County, where she was "Teacher of the Year" at Philippi Shores Elementary.

She immediately volunteered to teach at the day care center in her community, also working at Sarasota Memorial Hospital, volunteering in her church, servicing as President of the Amaryllis Community Association, going into training to over see the Disaster Preparedness in her community, working the All Faiths Food Bank and working with the Senior Friendship Center in their Caregivers program.

After many years as care giver for her mother and her husband, she is sharing the knowledge that she gained.

Carl Stephens is truly an Amazing Woman.
