SARASOTA, FL - Some residents of Tri-Par Estates, a mobile home community, need to pay up according to a letter sent to them by the Sarasota County Tax Collector's Office.

The letter, sent to more than 100 residents in the community, claims they need to pay the county bed tax, the same tax charged to a hotel, because they rent their homes less than six months of the year.

That is not true according to some of the residents, who say the county has likely messed up some paper work.

But, the tax collector wants what's due, unless the residents can prove they are not renting.

Fair? ABC 7 Reporter John McQuiston is on the story.
