SARASOTA, Fla. - Vintage war birds were moving from Venice to Sarasota Monday.

A P-51, B-24, and B-17 have been stationed at the Venice Municipal Airport since Friday. Monday the planes were flown to SRQ. They're a part of the Collings Foundation's Wings of Freedom Tour.

Weather delays kept many veterans from making the short flight, but not from checking out the World War II-era war planes.

"It takes us back quite a ways. I was in for four years. I have a lot of memories," said veteran Len Gumley.

"Wonderful. People should always be able to see these and remember them. Consider what they went through," said veteran Dave Cohen.

The planes will be on the east side of the airport before heading to Punta Gorda on Wednesday afternoon.

Admission is $12 for adults and $6 for children under 12.
