The Circus Sarasota 2013/2014 Circus Season has been completely astounding and now they are unveiling their biggest show yet, as they present the highly-anticipated 2014 Winter Performance, "WONDERSTRUCK." Circus Sarasota's productions have been acclaimed around the globe for their world-class artistry and entertainment, and the 2014 Winter Performance continues to cultivate and expand the circus legacy that has been wowing crowds for over 17 seasons.
"WONDERSTRUCK,"showcased in the one-ring, five-star, European-style Big Top across from Ed Smith Stadium, promises to amaze and delight the crowds with an extraordinary circus arts presentation that pays homage to America's military veterans and includes an all-star lineup of internationally-acclaimed performers who bring a wide array of highly-entertaining acts. The show will run for two consecutive weeks - from Friday, February 7th through Sunday, February 23rd - at the Big Top on 12th Street & Tuttle Avenue.
"WONDERSTRUCK"is a thrilling production that brings Sarasota a multitude of internationally-acclaimed circus artists performing astonishing feats, all under one Big Top.This season, Circus Sarasota is also a very proud partner in The Patterson Foundation's "Legacy of Valor" campaign. A goal of that campaign is to create opportunities for members of our community to connect with America's military veterans, inspire patriotism, and celebrate our freedoms. In honor of this partnership the 2014 Ringmaster is none other than former "Captain" in the Army National Guard, Tyron McFarlan. This veritable veteran - who devoted thirteen years to the service of our country - was also the 34th Ringmaster for Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, and will lead the way with a commanding presence, theatrical style and undeniable charm. The road will be filled with laughter as long-time circus performers and clowns, Tony and Janette Alexis entertain with hilarious classical clowning, and the giggles keep going as Luciano Anastasini presents Canine Antics, a high-energy, comedy dog performance, full of tail-wagging fun. There will also be high-soaring trapeze stunts from the world-famous Flying Cortes; masterful skills from Hungarian juggling sensation, Laido Dittmar; sharp-shooting crossbow feats by Cornel Tell; astounding low-wire balance maneuvers from Erik Niemen; majestic equestrian entertainment, including an amazing "quick-change" while on hoarse back from nationally-acclaimed, eighth generation circus performer, Caroline Williams, and much, much more. The crowds will feel transported with unbelievable ballet on shoulder from YouTube's Swan Lake protégés Deng Lin and Miao Changwei of China, and jaw-dropping, dexterous foot-juggling by Jan Navrátil of Czechoslovakia. And, of course, no Circus Sarasota Winter Production would be complete without a special aerial act from circus artist extraordinaire and the undisputed "Queen of the Air," Dolly Jacobs.
Prepare to be mesmerized with unprecedented grace and poise, as Sarasota's world-famous aerialist, and her strapping partner, the talented Rafael Palacios, soar high overhead to execute a spectacular pas de deux, aerial love-story with new movements never performed before.
"For over 17 consecutive seasons, we have been dedicated to producing a world-class, professional circus arts performance, full of family-friendly entertainment.
