PORT CHARLOTTE, FL-Economic Crimes detectives need help in identifying a man who attempted to pass a counterfeit bill at a local business earlier this month.

On Saturday May 3 at about 8:45 pm, a man tried to pay for merchandise with a $20 bill at the Walgreen’s, located at 1930 Kings Highway in Port Charlotte.  The clerk recognized that the bill was obviously counterfeit and retained custody of the bill.  The man used another $20 bill that was true currency to complete the transaction.

The man was described as being a Black male, with short black hair wearing a white T-shirt.

Anyone with information on the identity of the man involved in this case is asked to please call the Sheriff’s Office at (941) 639-2101 (ask for Economic Crimes), or Crime Stoppers at 800-780-TIPS (8477).
