SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. - For the first time the Centers for Disease Control says tainted drywall can result in a number of health and home problems.
The report is a long time coming. It's vindication for thousands of home owners who have been dealing with the issue for years. Some right here on the Suncoast.
In the report released Friday it states "Exposure to estimated contaminant concentrations could diminish a resident’s quality of life by triggering irritant (eye, nose, and throat) and physical (respiratory, gastrointestinal) symptoms, leading to negative mood states, and altering daily activities."
The report found the highest levels of gases in the product in Chinese made wall board produced in 2005 - 2006. However, it also says there have been reports of the same symptom in product made in the United States. That could mean some have a few pieces in their home perhaps from smaller jobs.
We will have much more on this story coming up this evening on ABC 7 @ 6pm.
