"Conserved" Exhibit, The Ringling
Featuring posters from the Tibbals Collection, this exhibition examines the life of a circus poster. The posters were printed and posted to announce the coming of the circus.
Some posters had a second life after the circus left town. Fans would pull the colorful advertising from windows and walls, storing them folded or rolled for years before the posters found their way to the Museum.
Cleaning, backing and, occasionally restoration have given these lithographs a second life as documentation of circus history.
This exhibition is included with regular Museum admission.
