Memorial Day “Tribute to Heroes” Parade
All residents are invited to join us waving your American flags and wearing your red, white and blue for the 6th annual community celebration of our fallen heroes, Tribute to Heroes Parade.
The event will begin at 5pm and the celebration will continue through 9pm. We are expecting over 40 different organizations to participate in the parade.
Floats, marching bands, ponies, Miss Lakewood Ranch, vintage cars and the local Hit Crew of Manatee County to name a few.
After the parade be sure to gather around the stage for the beautiful dove release, singing of God Bless America and the VFW reading of, In Flanders Fields, a poem inspired by Canadian Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae, during his service in the 2nd Battle of Ypres.
The fields were left unmaintained for years before they were made into a proper memorial. Today Flanders Fields is home to thousands of poppies.
The street festivities that will continue until 9PM include music, face painting, refreshments and vendor booths.
We are pleased to announce this year’s 2014 parade Grand Marshal to be John Breiner, Lakewood Ranch Entrepreneur, resident and parade founder.
