British Tourist murderer up for appeal Wednesday

SARASOTA, Fla. -- A Sarasota man convicted to killing two British tourists in Newtown will be back in court Wednesday, challenging the life sentences he received for those murders.

Shawn Tyson, will go before the 2nd District Court of Appeals in Lakeland.

Tyson was found guilty of killing tourists James Kouzaris and James Cooper in April 2011 in Newtown. Tyson was 16 at the time.

A panel of judges will decide what happens next in the case.

Tyson's conviction could be overturned in order to hold a another trial, or the conviction could be upheld but require a new sentence.
