It happened around 7:15am near the intersection of Gantt and Proctor in Sarasota. The district tells ABC7 that the bus was starting to approach its stop and had its hazard lights on, getting ready to stop, when the boy started to cross the road and was hit by a car.
William Garrett was last seen on the 400 block of Picasso Drive in Nokomis around 11:15am on Thursday. He was heading to Publix at U.S. 41 and Laurel Road in a gray 2019 Jeep Cherokee with a Florida license plate of JYEF86. He did not return from his trip to Publix.
Testing revealed the baby had broken bones in both wrists, broken ribs, a broken arm, a skull fracture and brain bleeding. The baby had to be flown to All Children’s Hospital in St. Pete due to the extreme injuries she suffered.
Officers were called to Nature Circle around 12:45am on Sunday for a reported stabbing. Once there, they found the 24-year-old victim inside his home with serious injuries to his lower back and arm. The victim was rushed to Sarasota Memorial Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
Troopers say 32-year-old David Jimenez was driving south on 15th Street East around 10:15pm when for an unknown reason his Ford F-150 went off the road onto the shoulder and collided with a culvert. The truck flipped onto its right side.
The Florida Department of Health in Sarasota County says the infections were acquired locally and the source has not been identified. The department is now working to identify and notify people who may have been exposed.
