SARASOTA, Fla. - According to the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office, at approximately 5am this morning, deputies responded to an alarm at the Bent Tree Golf Club at the 4700 Bent Tree Blvd block of Sarasota.
Upon arrival, a deputy observed a vehicle in the parking lot which was occupied by one person. The deputy attempted to contact the driver but the driver failed to follow the deputy's commands. The driver drove at the deputy almost striking the deputy. Deputy Karen Boone fired one round from her handgun and the driver then fled the area.
The vehicle was located a short period later by deputies on the golf course where the suspect vehicle fled again. Deputies were able to immobilize the suspect vehicle and take the driver into custody. No persons were injured during this incident and the investigation is ongoing.
The deputy has been placed on administrative leave as is procedure.
The suspect, Kimberly Tomchinsky, is charged with Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer, Fleeing to Elude and Obstruction.
An on scene witness reports that approximately one dozen vehicles responded to the area and that a second shot not mentioned in the official police report was fired.
The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating and ABC 7 will have more details later in the day.
