Arrest made in Sarasota shooting

SARASOTA, Fla. -- Sheriff's detectives are investigating a fatal shooting that was discovered early Saturday morning in Sarasota.

According to the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 4am to a report of a shooting in the 4800 block of Baccus Avenue, just off Proctor Road.

Arriving deputies found a male victim lying in the driveway of a residence with a fatal gunshot wound to the chest area.

**UPDATE** -- The victim has been identified as 19-year-old Justin Ates of Sarasota. The next of kin has been notified.

Detectives have charged 20-year-old Darian Davis of Bradenton with 1st Degree Murder. Davis was located in Manatee County and has been booked into the Manatee County Jail.

Further investigation is being conducted.
