PANAMA CITY BEACH, FL (WWSB)- The Gulf World Marine Institute is releasing a sea turtle named Fabio into the wild today.
Fabio has quite a unique history along the Emerald coast, stranding four times since 2009," said Sam Tuno, Marketing Director Gulf World Marine Park. And he's easily distinguished by his amputated front flipper.
He was first taken to Gulf World for rehab in 2009 after being found entangled in fishing line, and "the severity of the entanglement around the front flipper made it medically necessary to amputate," says Tuno.
Fabio showed up twice more after cold stunt sin 2011 and 2014.
Most recently he was found by Florida Fish and Wildlife after getting hit by a boat, and after 12 months of rehab he's ready to be released into the wild again.
