Florida low on blood supply after mass shooting

FLORIDA (WWSB)- The state blood center, known as "One Blood" is in need of blood after responding to yesterday's mass shooting in a Parkland, FL high school.

In a press release, One Blood said: "while the immediate blood needs have been met, there is a need to replenish the areas O negative blood supply."

O negative is the universal blood type and is used to treat trauma patients.

One Blood officials are asking eligible o-negative donors to visit a donor center or big red bus and donate.

Healthy people above the age of 16 that weigh at least 110 pounds can visit oneblood.org to make an appointment, or find their nearest blood bank.
