The Nation's Weather for Thursday, March 8, 2018

A potent nor'easter will bring heavy snow and gusty winds to

northern New England for a time today. Minor to moderate

coastal flooding during high tide is also likely from the

storm. A secondary area of heavy snow is in store for parts

of the Upper Midwest, near the center of the old section of

the storm. In between, snow showers will extend from the

Great Lakes to the Appalachians. Chilly air is forecast to

extend from the Central states to Florida. Most areas from

the Mississippi River to the Rockies and Southern California

can expect sunshine and dry weather. Meanwhile, a potent

storm will bring areas of drenching rain and heavy mountain

snow from Northern California to Washington and northern

Idaho. The heaviest precipitation will fall from coastal

Oregon to western Washington.
