GERARDMER, France (AP) — The eighth stage of the Tour de France took place earlier today with the winner being Blel Kadri of France. Italy's Vincenzo Nibali remains the overall leader and holder of the yellow jersey.

UNDATED (AP) — Host Brazil and the Netherlands are facing off this afternoon in the meaningless third-place match at the World Cup. The big game, the championship, is being played tomorrow with Germany going against Argentina.

UNDATED (AP) — Adam Wainwright is back on the mound today looking for his 12th win of the season. The Cardinals are on the road for another game with the Brewers in Milwaukee. The 11-4 Wainwright heads into today's game with a 1.79 ERA, right behind the Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw for the major league lead.

NEWTON, Iowa (AP) — Scott Dixon will start tonight's IndyCar race from the pole. He will share the front row with Target Chip Ganassi teammate Tony Kanaan (kuh-NAHN'), who won the race in 2010. Point's co-leader Helio Castroneves (EHL'-ee-oh kas-troh-NEH'-vehz) is starting third.

SOUTHPORT, England (AP) — The third round of the Women's British Open is almost over. A pair of Japanese players top the leaderboard. Sun-Ju Ahn is first at 5-under after 17 holes while Inbee Park is in the clubhouse at 4-under.
