(AP) — Tony Stewart will not race Saturday night at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, the third Sprint Cup race he's skipped since his car struck and killed Kevin Ward Jr. during a sprint car race. Stewart has been in seclusion since the Aug. 8 incident at an upstate New York dirt track that remains under investigation.
UNDATED (AP) — Jim Kelly shows no evidence of sinus cancer three months after the Buffalo Bills Hall of Fame quarterback completed radiation and chemotherapy treatments. Dr. Peter Costantino says in a release issued by New York City's Lennox Hill Hospital that Kelly's level of functioning is essentially back to normal and he's free of the pain he was experiencing.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians first baseman Nick Swisher is having arthroscopic surgery on both knees and is done for the season. Swisher has underperformed after getting a four-year, $56 million contract from the Indians before last season. Before he was sidelined, Swisher was batting .208 with eight home runs and 42 RBIs in 97 games.
