LONDON (AP) — Defending Wimbledon champion Andy Murray will not be defending his title any longer. Murray was eliminated from play by 11th seed Grigor Dimitrov (GREE'-gohr DIHM'-ih-trov) of Bulgaria, 6-1, 7-6, 6-2. His previous best finish at Wimbledon was the second round in 2011, 12 and 13.
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Starting linebacker Kiko Alonso of the Buffalo Bills has torn a ligament in his left knee and is expected to miss the entire season. The injury to Alonso is a significant blow to the Bills before they even open training camp on July 20. He was an NFL defensive rookie of the year contender last season after being drafted in the second round out of Oregon. He led the Bills with 159 tackles, two fumble recoveries and tied for the team lead with four interceptions.
MILWAUKEE (AP) — Jason Kidd was introduced today as the new coach of the Milwaukee Bucks. He lost a power play with the Nets and his rights were traded to the Bucks. In his rookie season as a head coach in the NBA, Kidd led the Nets to 44 wins last season. The Bucks finished with a league worst 15-67 record last season with Larry Drew as coach.
ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The Orlando Magic have signed their first round picks from last week's NBA draft, No. 4 Aaron Gordon and 10th overall pick Elfrid Payton. Gordon was the Pac-12 freshman of the year last season at Arizona while Payton, a guard, is out of Louisiana-Lafayette.
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Adam Wainwright of the Cardinals will attempt to become the first 11-game winner in the National League this evening when the Cards play the Giants In San Francisco. Two pitchers, Rick Porcello of the Tigers and Masahiro Tanaka (mah-sah-HEE'-roh tah-NAH'-kah) of the Yankees, have won 11 games in the American League.
