TAMPA, Fla. (AP) — The Tampa Bay Lightning have landed defenseman Anton Stralman to help them on the blue line. Stralman was lured to the Lightning as a free agent today with a $22.5 million, five-year contract. He scored one goal and had 13 assists last season for the New York Rangers.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) — Kentucky baseball player AJ Reed and Florida softball player Hannah Rogers have been named the league's male and female athletes of the year. The SEC athletic directors voted on the awards, which were released today. Rogers led Florida to its first national championship in softball.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — The University of Florida says a 2014 sports calendar featuring former Gator and New England Patriots football star Aaron Hernandez was approved before he was charged with killing three men. School spokesman Daniel Apple says officials approved the calendar last spring.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays beat the New York Yankees 4-3 last night after squandering a late lead. Logan Forsythe hit a tiebreaking single with two outs in the 12th inning Matt Joyce and Kevin Kiermaier homered for the resurgent Rays, who have their first three-game winning streak since taking a season-best four in a row May 22-25.
