UNDATED (AP) — Most of the nation's top-ranked college basketball teams were in action and all but one came out on top. The only exception was the sole matchup between ranked teams. Number 25 Texas A&M got the better of 11th-ranked West Virginia 88-65. All of the top ten teams won their games.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Las Vegas is posting snipers and surrounding tens of thousands of runners with other safety measures at a weekend marathon, the first large-scale outdoor event since a gunman killed 58 people at a country music festival. Police have beefed up security and tweaked their original safety plan for the annual event. Some participants say they will be running Sunday to stand up to evil. About 350 officers will be working to protect the runners as they pass by world-famous high-rise casino-hotels and the crime scene.

PHOENIX (AP) — Defending champion Paul Goydos and major winners Vijay Singh and Lee Janzen shot 7-under 64 on Friday to share the first-round lead in the Charles Schwab Cup Championship. Bernhard Langer, trying to sweep the PGA Tour Champions' three playoff events and win the Charles Schwab Cup season points title for the fourth straight year and fifth overall, was tied for 28th at even-par 71 at tree-lined Phoenix Country Club.

NEW YORK (AP) — The NFL wants to find out if the Seattle Seahawks followed proper concussion protocol with quarterback Russell Wilson. An NFL spokesman says the league is conducting a "thorough review" of whether the Seahawks followed the protocols when Wilson was sent off the field after a hit in the third quarter of Seattle's 22-16 win over Arizona. Wilson was in Seattle's injury tent for only a few moments and missed just one play.
