MIAMI (AP) — Hurricane Cristobal is expected to move rapidly toward the north Atlantic. Forecasters in Miami say the storm will stay away from Bermuda and pass south of Nova Scotia. Cristobal's has winds around 75 miles per hour.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — Florida Democrats are making a show of unity at rallies in Orlando and Fort Lauderdale. Sen. Bill Nelson, DNC chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz, gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist and Attorney General nominee George Sheldon are to make appearances. The rallies come days after the primary election.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — The police chief of Daytona Beach says he mistakenly put his .38-caliber revolver in the wrong bag while on his way to Orlando airport. Mike Chitwood was stopped by TSA officers who spotted it in his carry-on. An officer walked Chitwood to his car, where he stored the gun in his trunk.

BELLEVIEW, Fla. (AP) — A young woman has lost her right arm after being struck by a train in Marion County. Investigators say the woman was apparently drunk and upset about a recent breakup when she was lying next to a train track in Belleview yesterday. The woman is in critical condition.
