MIAMI (AP) — A man and woman are dead and seven others are wounded following an early morning shooting in Miami's Liberty City neighborhood. Police say 29-year-old Kevin Richardson and 26-year-old Nakeri Jackson were killed in the shooting. City officials are going to try to reassess their strategy against crime in the area.

LUTZ, Fla. (AP) — Pasco County police are accusing a teenager of killing his 74-year-old grandmother inside her home at a nudist community. Police say a neighbor saw Brandon Machetto drag what appeared to be a body into a minivan. Deputies tried to pull over Machetto, but he kept driving for nearly five hours.

EGLIN AIR FORCE BASE, Fla. (AP) — Military officials are investigating how an F-35 fighter jet caught fire during takeoff from Eglin air base. No one was hurt. Firefighters were able to put out the fire. The pilot was able to shut down the engine and get out of the plane after noticing the fire.

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (AP) — Polk County health officials confirmed the first case of a mosquito-borne disease. The infected victim with chikungunya (chik-in-GUHN'-yuh) fever had recently traveled to the Caribbean. Cases in Miami-Dade, Broward and Hillsborough counties have been confirmed in others who had traveled to the Caribbean.
