SARASOTA, FL - Right now, your tax dollars are going towards the cost of incarcerating non violent offenders for the rest of their lives.

A new report by the ACLU highlights this fact of American justice from coast to coast.

The numbers are staggering. More than 3,000 life without parole inmates are non-violent offenders, and the majority of them are Black.

That's nearly 6% of the total life without parole prison population, and it's costing tax payers billions of dollars.

ABC 7 Reporter Bobeth Yates will bring you more on the report.
